PRC is more than just an organization, it is a family.
Without the inspiration of Dr. Nemah Hermosa, UP Diliman faculty, and encouragement from Prof. Flor Jenkin, BUCE faculty, Pilar Reading Center would have never been realized. Dr. Hermosa was the benefactor of Lowel Andrian Solayao, founder of PRC, during his college years. She helped the lad in financing the needs for his college education. As a way of giving back, Solayao decided to start the reading center in tribute Dr. Hermosa and Prof. Jenkin as reading experts.
“Na-to-touch ako na kahit hindi pa nya ako nakikita, andun ‘yung tiwala ni Madam [Hermosa] sa akin,” Solayao expressed gratefully.
During the formative year of PRC, Prof. Daves Tonga and Prof. Aries Perez showed moral supp ort and gave pointers regarding the management of the center.
PRC is composed of members from different secondary and tertiary schools, each has their own role in the center and achievements in their academic careers. Wiliard Salgado, President, is a Leadership Awardee in Pilar National Comprehensive High School (PNCHS); Arvie Nasayao, P.I.O., is the President of Supreme Student Government (SSG) of Bayasong National High School (BNHS) and the valedictorian of his batch in the said school; Rechelle Salgado, Magazine Manager, is also a Leadership Awardee of PNCHS; and Lowel Andrian Solayao, founder, is the Associate Editor of The Mentor, official student publication of BUCE, and a Cum Laude of Bachelor in Secondary Education (BSEd) in BUCE.
