PRC sponsors #ArtThink sessions, hopes to produce artistic Tulay kids

Pilar Reading Center conducted the first-ever #ArtThink sessions on October 22, 2016 aimed to help Tulay and other Pilarino kids to hone their talents and skills in drawing, coloring and communicating. The said session was attended by thirty two out of school and in school children from Tulay Community, Purong Batya, Banuyo, Pilar, Sorsogon.

The said #ArtThink sessions were divided into two classes after the StoryTelling. The story shared about a cat mother which has three little kittens was shared by Lowel Andrian M. Solayao, Chief Storyteller of PRC. After the StoryTelling, the children learned the basics of drawing a cat.

There were twenty ( 20 ) prep, kinder to Grade 3 kids who attended the#ArtClass where guhit and kulay basics were taught. The said class was facilitated by PRC volunteer, Ruth S. Arias, a college student from Bicol University. She is now a third year BSED college student and the first DOST scholar from Tulay Community.

Twelve (12) in-school Grade 4-8 attended the #ThinkSessions. The said class was facilitated by Sharmaine M. Solayao, PRC volunteer, a college graduate of Southern Luzon Technological College Foundation Inc- Pilar campus. She took #ProjectBayanihan, a special LET review of PRC.

Also pesent in the Saturday’s session was Angelique Mae Salgado, PRC volunteer, a Grade 9 student of Pilar National Comprehensive High School. She taught the kids how to sing her Pilar Reading Center Song composition. She celebrated her 15th birthday through singing and teaching her song at PRC.

Aside from the art and think sessions, PRC also hopes to hold music and dance session, literary and visual session and many more productive and creative activities for the kids.

Doing these different sessions is part of PRC’s vision to make every child a reader, one child at a time.
