Pilar Reading Center ( PRC ) held its three-day year end activity for PRC learners called Karunungan Festival with the theme: Pagbabasa: Pundasyon ng Karunungan on December 27-29, 2016.

Regular PRC kids (who always attend the Saturday learning sessions) participated in the different activities and contests in the said festival. Some of the activities conducted in the first and second day were: Read and Run ( a healthy and family run), Karunungan Workshop ( a workshop for better story delivery), Bugtong Contest ( the first ever in town), and Jack and Poy Competition as part of Larong Pankarunungan.

On the third day, different contests were also held at Bonifacio Covered Court. They were: Story Reading Contest ( Kinder to Grade 3), Story Reading Contest ( Grade 4-Grade 7), Storytelling Contest ( Grade 4-Grade 7) and Bigkas ng Tula ( Kinder to Grade 2). Invited judges for the contests were Mam Vanessa Lopez of Salvacion NHS, Pilar, Sorsogon, Sir Shar Mejorada of MM2P Learning Center, Pilar, Sorsogon and Mam Mary Ann Fabia, EDUCO, Pilar, Sorsogon.

#KarununganTalk was also held at the same venue. #KarununganTalk features real life story sharing from models we know would inspire the PRC learners. Invited inspirational speakers were: Mr. Troy Abainza, who never gives up on his dreams, failed LET many times but kept an eye for his license. He is now a professional teacher. Second speaker was Ms. Mary Ann Fabia, the scholar who defy criticisms and pursued for her dreams. She is now a licensed teacher. And the third was Ms. Crismen De Borja, one of the founding members of PRC, who chose to believe in order to survive. She is also a professional teachers. In order for the kids to be inspired to read and live, a real story must be shared.

Karunungan Festival is a three-day event for PRC learners but the lessons and meaningful experiences brought to these kids will be for a lifetime.
